Would it be possible for someone to get Donald Trump’s phone
out of his hand? There are drunk college
kids that have sent less regrettable communication than Trump’s barrage after
the horrible terrorist attacks in London last weekend. The major difference between Trump scolding
the Mayor of London two seconds after the incident and a hungover young man
that sees he sent a 3:03am text the night before saying “Kristina, I know I pretend
I don’t care about you, but you are all I think about and I cry every night
because I miss you. Please come back.” is
that at least that young man knows his message was ill-advised. Donald
Trump is so remarkably tone deaf it boggles the imagination. His lack of finesse and empathy is stunning
for a human being, much less the symbol of our nation.
I was in England last month and walked that bridge, that
marketplace. It is filled with normal
families and people going about their lives.
I find that when I have been someplace where a tragic event has happened
it becomes more real, and not just a segment on TV. Those people that were attacked could have
been any of us. It’s hard to wrap your
head around the mindset of someone that would do this. Trump is unfit for this office. To shift within moments of noting the injustice
and pointlessness of the terrorist action to pick a fight with the Mayor of
London and then toss the gun lobby a bone is horribly embarrassing for all
Americans. Trump is like that roommate you
had in college that showed up at the party, got drunk on keg beer, and then started
making lewd sexist comments to your female party guests while he’s smiling like
he’s a total stitch. Then the next day
when you say, “Hey, Donald… you were
being a real asshole last night. The
girls were totally offended by what you said and left.”, he counters with “Those
bitches are too sensitive. Fuck them.” as
he walks away in a backward baseball cap.
When Trump shows up somewhere eyes reflexively roll and the words “Oh
shit…” come out of everyone’s mouth. He is every asshole at every frat party.
How can we continue like this? The administration is obviously covering up
something in regards to Russia. Those
creeps are guilty of something. Stupidity probably. Dozens of government positions remain
unfilled as no one with any sense wants to be associated with this radioactive
crew. Trump pulls out of the Paris Agreement
for no discernible reason except to placate his shrinking base and the Koch
Brothers. Let’s pretend there isn’t a
problem and build coal burning cars. Let’s
bring back typewriter factory jobs! VCR
factories! Whaling! Trump has created a void in
world leadership that China is rushing to fill.
Let’s be clear. That man is a
reality TV show star and a con man, not a leader. He is remarkably incurious. Trump’s inability to grasp complex issues has
left us all sitting in the backseat of a car driven by a dipshit. The worst part is that we are only five
months in. Just wait until he launches a
war with North Korea as a distraction when the Russia investigation gets hot. That will be a hoot.
Ultimately there is nothing I can do about it. As per a conversation I had with a friend
last night who stated “I want to do something but what? March around with a sign?
This is all bullshit.”. In a
world gone mad, the key is to maintain your own sanity. I love the guy in the picture. There he is fleeing a group of knife wielding
kooks near London Bridge and he’s got his pint in hand. Not a drop spilled. Carry on mate. I’m with you.
I wish there were like buttons here.

ReplyDeleteHow can "we" continue like this?
ReplyDeleteYou're right Greg, politically incorrect tweets are worse than now regular stabbings and vehicular murders by members of the religion of peace.
The British people have lost their minds and testicles. Continue importing people from a religion where the penalty for being gay or leaving the religion are death, what could possibly go wrong?
Britain will be unrecognizable in 30 years, glad you have your fond memories. You'll need them.
Britain isn't "importing" people. These are citizens as a result of when the sun never set on the British Empire. You can't deport people with views that "might" lead to violence. Where do you deport them to? I have no clue how that problem is solved while maintaining the civil liberties that are part of the culture.
ReplyDeleteTrump is a fool. It's a complicated world that our leader isn't able to comprehend because he lacks the background, education, and intellectual curiosity to learn. The real issues of terrorism don't excuse our president from being inept in his actions.
